This story was told by my late grandmother when i was a small kid.
There used to be a gigantic mango tree near my old house at the village at deoria, rampurgarh. It was there before my grandfather settled there. It was told by d local natives that a kid was beheaded near that tree by some of his relatives in envy. And that kid's soul haunted that tree. That tree never beared a single fruit after his murder.
My grandma was a religious woman. She used to perform puja daily 4 her deity and offered water, flowers and tulsi leaves. A tulsi was planted at sm distance from that tree. Everyday at evening she used to go near tulsi plant and pour d water whch ws offered to d deity in d morning puja.
One evening she came late to d house and after bathing she hurriedly went to perform her puja as she hd never failed to do so before sunset. It ws a waxed full moon day. As she performed her offerings and prayer she heard d branches of d mango tree shaking violently. At first she ignored it thinking it might be some monkey doing so. But suddenly it stopped and next she heard a moaning cry of a kid wch came from the branches of d tree. It ws impossible to see through d darkness inside d tree.
Ignorant of d stories she went near d tree 2 c who's crying at such hour. To her horror she saw a beheaded kid sitting on on lower branch with its legs hooked on d branch while hs lower body hung downwards. This terrific scene shook every nerve of my grandma...she felt as if d horror hs gripped hr so tightly tht she couldn't move a inch. But gathering all her will she ran to d house to escape from d most dreadful experience of hr life. Dat shock almost made hr speechless. She narrated everything to family members.
Very next day a priest was called who performed some unsual rituals near d tree and tied a red thread around d trunk. He instructed that d tree must be chopped down asap.
Afterwards the ghost of that kid was never seen there.
